Fugu (Japanese Puffer Fish)

Fugu, or the Japanese puffer fish, is valued in Japan as a rare delicacy. However, due to the puffer fish’s poisonous glands, it can be lethal if not handled and prepared correctly. That’s why chefs in the United States are prohibited from selling or serving fugu. Only a select few licensed U.S. chefs are allowed a very limited supply.
