Angela Bassett graced the 2015 amfAR Inspiration Gala in Hollywood, where she showed off a super sleek center-parted bob teamed with a bejeweled mask, a dark red lip, and a plunging dress. Va-va-voom!

The ageless actress loves to experiment with different hairstyles for her red carpet looks, from sleek ‘dos like this to her natural curls and everything else in between. It’s obvious she has a lot of fun when it comes to prepping for the red carpet, and she admitted as much in an interview with InStyle in January 2018. “I’ve been working with the same makeup artists and hairstylists for years, and I’ve pretty much always been happy to sit in the chair and close my eyes. I’m not going to put a straitjacket on them. A [fashion] stylist will have ideas and things for me, and I’ll try on the whole rack because it’s fun.”

She revealed, though, she hadn’t always been that confident. “As a young black woman coming up in the projects and wanting to go into the entertainment business, you’re…straightening your hair, perming, doing all these things to yourself to fit in with this standard of beauty. But, thankfully, it’s changed dramatically over the past two to three decades, which is freeing and wonderful to see.”
