These Are the Most Extreme, Dangerous Railways Around the World

Gokteik Viaduct, Myanmar

Located in Myanmar’s Shan State in the town of Nawnghkio, the Gokteik Viaduct was the largest railway trestle in the world at the time of its completion in 1900. Interestingly enough, the bridge was made by a U.S. company — Pennsylvania and Maryland Bridge Construction. The long, somewhat turbulent ride spans more than 2,000 feet, with trestles at roughly 820 feet in the air! It sounds slightly terrifying, but tourists give the ride top ratings, and locals rely on it to get around, so how bad could it really be?
