The Long List of Celebrities Who Have Run for Political Office

Eva Peron

You may know Evita Duarte, better known as Eva Peron, from the popular musical and movie. However, her real story is packed with even more twists and turns. She was born in a small village in Argentina and moved to Buenos Aires for a career as a B-list actress.

While she was never especially famous on-screen, it did give her the chance to meet people, including Colonel Juan Peron, who went on to become her husband and future president of Argentina. In 1951, she attempted to run for vice president, but lack of popular support and failing health caused her to withdraw. She passed away from cancer in 1952.
