    No, NASA was not attempting to weaponize water in the event of an intergalactic moisture battle.

    However, Lonnie Johnson did aim to create a heat pump that would use water instead of gas, which would be far safer for the astronauts. While conducting tests, he found a way to create a water pump that could shoot water with exceptional power.  Johnson saw the prototype’s potential and patented the water pump design. Since its inception, the Super Soaker has made around a billion dollars. Not bad for a side project!
