As one of the key American planes during World War II, the Curtiss C-46 Commando was a transport plane for the United States Navy and the Air Force. They were originally meant to serve as passenger planes, so after the war a few were converted for commercial use. Even today, some Commandos are used for transport in remote arctic regions.
