MiG-25

Just outside St. Petersburg, Russia, two MiG fighters sit abandoned on a highway in 1990. These fighters were Russia’s top planes for decades, but in the 1990s, after the dissolution of the USSR, there was little money left for the Russian Air Force. Many planes were scrapped and pilots didn’t receive wages for months. What was once a deadly military weapon became an oversized toy for Russian children, who are pictured climbing the planes.
