Al Franken

Perhaps inspired by the success of Jesse “The Body” Ventura, Franken was elected as a U.S Senator from Minnesota in 2008. His constituents must have liked his work, because they re-elected him for a second term in 2014. Prior to his political career, Franken was best known as a comedy writer for Saturday Night Live. After his time on the show, he tried and dramatically failed to make a career as a screenwriter. His screenplay, Stewart Saves His Family, was almost universally execrated. However, Franken did go on to become a successful author. Fans of his dry wit can enjoy more of it in four books, his radio show, and his well-publicized feud with Bill O’Reilly.
His political career abruptly ended after several sexual misconduct allegations (specifically groping) were leveled against him in late 2017. He resigned his office on Jan. 2, 2018.
