The Downes’ home was more than 100 years old, and while it definitely needed a facelift, they didn’t want it to lose its original charm. So they kept the original country style in mind when they took the tiny kitchen and turned it into a big, open breakfast nook. They went with older elements, such as exposed wood and iron light fixtures, but also with newer twists, including a white quartz counter.
