Immigration Influx

It wasn’t just Californians like Marshall, Lopez, and Brannan who were rushing to northern California, hoping to find a fortune. People from Oregon, modern-day Hawaii, and Latin America began migrating in droves in late 1848.
Roughly 300,000 people from all over the world — including Asia, Australia, and Europe — came to California during the Gold Rush.
