Misfits – ‘Legacy of Brutality’

In 1985, former Misfits singer Glen Danzig – who disbanded the iconic New Jersey punk band in 1983 – rerecorded and remixed 13 of the band’s songs and released them on the compilation Legacy of Brutality, removing the performances of his former bandmates to avoid paying royalties. Suffice to say, the other band members didn’t take too kindly to this, leading to legal battles. Said legal battles in turn made early pressings of the record hard to come by. Most valuable is the second pressing, identifiable by its pink blotter pattern, which was limited to 16 copies and can fetch over $5,000.
