People who en route to outer space or those who live on the international space station are limited in the kinds of supplies to which they have access. So constantly bringing up water is just not possible. Special filter systems were put in place in order to remove water from urine and make it drinkable again. This technology is now used in many home water filter device, including the water pitcher you may have in your fridge right now. Now, we don’t recommend peeing into the pitcher. The home water filter isn’t that good.
