Throughout the world, thousands of abandoned aircraft sit around, waiting to be explored. After years of faithful service, every plane has to get retired at some point. Some get reused for parts, while some wait around until they’re renovated and recommissioned. Some planes have a long and glowing history, while others are infamous for constantly malfunctioning and crashing.

In other parts of the world, poor families live inside planes if they can’t afford shelter. Even underwater, planes that were shot down become the perfect habitat for fish and coral.
